Eleven months Programme for Graduates in Sports Journalism

Sports Journalism is the most glamorised of the new era media activity. It not only gives the vantage positions to watch the matches of all games, but interact freely with sports personalities and get you travel with teams to exotic locations. There are number of media outfits in online, television, newspaper, magazine and online space dedicated to sports, apart from all the major newspapers having their sports page. Sports Journalists happen to be among the most well-travelled and sought-after media professionals across India. They get to be one on one with not only the top sportsmen in India and abroad but also the who’s who of sports management, sporting bodies & the policy makers in the sector and government.

School of Digital Media and Communications offers an eleven months programme for Graduates to specialize in Sports Journalism. This is an intensive programme and includes industry training for graduates from any stream and management students.

The course curriculum will offer the following subjects:

  • Basics of Sports journalism
  • Basics on news sourcing
  • Introduction to various categories and sub categories of sports
  • Basics rules and regulations of different sports
  • Introduction to sporting bodies
  • Insight into the basics of sport management
  • Insight into the basics of Sport promotion
  • Sports in the global arena
  • History around major sporting events
  • The difference between Sports Journalism and Sport Management
  • Interviewing sports person
  • Researching for sports writing
  • Apart from academics from the field of journalism, we will have sport journalists and sportsman/ athlete attached to the course

Qualification: Degrees in any stream with proficiency in English and Hindi

Duration of the Course: Eleven months including industry training

Fees: Rupees two lakh plus applicable taxes and levies

Language: English and Hindi

Seats: 35 only in each centre

Location: New Delhi and Kolkata only

Journalism graduates who want to specialize in a specific field will be preferred.
